Cycle for Hope sets out to promote the use of the bicycle in all of its forms, in order to enhance low-cost non-motorized transport, and improve health through linking exercise and mobility especially at high school and primary level. By doing so, it will contribute to the development of healthy communities.
The Rationale
To build youth into strong, positive community leaders by developing social consciousness, values and attitudes in young people. This will enable them to achieve personal growth by providing them with knowledge and skills to gain economic, moral and spiritual empowerment. Also, to establish cycling clubs at primary and high school level to enhance the sense of belonging to a supporting group. The Main Objectives span across a spectrum of societal needs:
·        Environmental (Climate Change)
·        Recreational and Physical Well-being
·        Economic and Entrepreneurial

Many teens in South Africa are growing up in the midst of severe social problems. In many communities, a lack of adult mentorship and after-school activities contribute to youth getting involved in destructive behavior. This project aims to involve primary and high school youth in positive activities after school, and to inspire them to develop as healthy, caring and responsible citizens that contribute to their neighborhoods whilst building identity and a sense of belonging.
